Cringe at your high school yearbook photo, and you know it: yesterday’s cutting edge style is often today’s discard pile. But what if you spliced cutting edge with classical? Gave swagger to what could be stuffy?
A young family in Dallas now has it with a home we designed to grow old in—in a style that feels forever young. To get there, Deirdre Doherty Interiors took modern elements and made them timeless: a contemporary pink-printed shade gives pop to classic penny rounds in a bedroom. Traditional grey and whites get unleashed in big, bold-striped bathroom tiles. Stately, dark wood floors and wallpapers tame the wild side of animal-printed drapes.
